Feedback

Whether you subscribe to WhaleDown or not, we welcome your feedback. The secret to WhaleDown's ability to support so many video websites is inseparable from the extensive user feedback received over the years.

You can report any issues you encounter while using WhaleDown to us via email. Common bugs include videos failing to be detected, downloaded videos lacking audio, or playback issues caused by video encryption. Additionally, feedbacks regarding product features and user interface (UI) design are also welcomed.

The content of this document will help us communicate effectively and resolve bugs as quickly as possible.

1. Basic Information (Optional)

Some basic information regarding your software, system, and hardware would be helpful for us to analyze and locate the bug. Typically, this information is optional.

InfoExample
WhaleDown Version2026.04.0
Operating SystemmacOS 26
CPUApple Silicon M5 Max

If we have resolved the bug and are ready to provide a download link for a test version, this information is necessary.

For further testing, we need some web page links (not video URLs). These web pages must contain at least one video.

warning

Providing only the video website's domain name is insufficient, as we have found that many websites simultaneously employ multiple video transmission and protection technologies.

3. Test Account

Many video websites require you to log in to watch videos. In particular, websites that use a subscription model usually require a credit card. Obviously, our developers can't register an account for each website.

In this case, some users are willing to provide us with their own accounts. This provided us with tremendous assistance in further testing the bugs.

warning

We will make every effort to ensure the security of users' accounts. Test accounts will not be shared with third parties.

Furthermore, we recommend that users assign a temporary password to the account provided to us. Once testing is complete, the password should be reverted to the original one.

4. IP Restriction

We have encountered certain video websites that restrict users' IP regions. In this case, we will make every effort to access such websites via a VPN.

Some websites even go a step further, requiring users to access them directly rather than using a VPN. Please forgive us for being powerless to do anything about this situation.

5. Acknowledgements
